K12 Standard Chinese Language Programme
The K12 Standard Chinese Language Programme is a modern, comprehensive educational system designed for international students. It aims to enable students to acquire Chinese language proficiency progressively while developing their understanding of Chinese culture and the diverse cultures of the world. The programme is based on the guiding principle, “Learn Chinese – Understand China – Connect with the World.”
The principal features and advantages of the programme are as follows:
- It is intended for international students at K–12 level;
- It is designed to meet the needs of students whose native language is not Chinese;
- It is based on more than 20 years of teaching implementation;
- It is aligned with international Chinese language proficiency standards;
- Its materials are published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press.
The programme is structured into five stages and nine levels, enabling students to develop their language skills progressively. Each level is aligned with the requirements of the HSK and YCT international examinations.
The principal objective of instruction is not only to equip students with fundamental language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening and translation, but also to provide opportunities to study and understand traditional and contemporary Chinese culture and to develop their understanding and draw relationship between the culture of their own country.
Teacher Development and Quality Assessment
The K12 Standard Chinese Language Programme is distinguished by its comprehensive teacher development framework and multifaceted assessment system. Teachers at Kunz School participated in successive professional training sessions in August 2025 and January and March 2026. These included:

In addition, experts from the K12 Standard Chinese Language Programme visited the school and carried out the following activities in stages:

Beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year, Kunz School is implementing the New HSK Standard Course for students in Grades 8–12.
This programme is fully aligned with the structure of HSK Levels 1–6 and provides systematic preparation for international proficiency examinations. It thereby enables students to obtain official certification of Chinese language proficiency, gain admission to universities and other higher education institutions abroad, participate in scholarship programmes, and expand their future educational and professional opportunities.
The content of the HSK Standard Course is appropriate to the age and cognitive development of students in Grades 8–12 and includes topics related to everyday communication, school, society, culture and contemporary life.
Grammar explanations, vocabulary, listening activities, dialogues and exercises are also taught in connection with practical application, which is important for the balanced development of students’ language skills.
A wide range of teaching and learning resources is used to meet contemporary educational needs, including audio materials, video lessons, interactive exercises, online tests, group work and dialogue assignments. These resources increase students’ active participation and interest in learning.
A further distinctive feature of the programme is that language learning is integrated with broad knowledge of traditional and contemporary Chinese culture, customs, education, culinary culture, festivals and social interaction.
